Daniel Hickey, PhD

Daniel Hickey is Professor with the Learning Sciences Program at Indiana University.  He is also a Research Scientist with the IU Center for Research on Learning and Technology, a Senior Fellow with the IU Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research, and an Adjunct Faculty Member with the IU Cognitive Science Program. Dr. Hickey will be the Indiana PI and will provide leadership, lead assessment development, and coordinate with the external evaluator.

He mostly studies how situative theories of learning can solve enduring educational problems, mostly as they concern digital technologies and often as they concern assessment.

He enjoys hiking with his wife and is an avid cyclist.  He has toured the world including Switzerland, Germany, Holland, Belgium, and North America. In recent years his research has focused increasingly on online learning and learning cybersecurity.
